Do you think that the ability to spoof source IPs on widely available consumer machines will not be a problem, and if so, why?

I think that something that is so obvious will quickly have a solution created for it. That is the history of software vulnerabilities. There are a lot of Win2000 machines out there in full service. You would think that all these anti-Microsoft people would be putting them out of commission whenever they please. That does not seem to be occurring. Why are people that hate Microsoft not shutting down Win2000 machines at will? That is a good question, if I say so myself. :-)

As far as spoofing goes, you and I both have digital signatures that can not be spoofed. The IP address becomes irrelevant.
