I fear that the "smart money" has no clue that pumping up the supply will not work in this environment. The confidence game has been over for some time now.
As the layoff numbers pile up and the rate cuts have ever diminishing returns to turn this economy around, the dim bulbs will finally realize that this time its different.
You don't undue five years of malinvestment by printing more money. The piper is being paid for Greenspan's LTCM folly.
