I think that the key is that from GNET to INSP, they lost what their charter should have been. And that is to be a quality stock discussion site that is built to cater to the needs of the members. Some people won't pay for this, but many people will. The people who won't pay, will end up at ihub and RB and will tolerate ads and policies that cater to entities other than the membership. Someday, I do expect somebody to actually "get it".
