Those of us here old enough to remember the Vietnam war had much the same debate. For a long time the majority supported the war. "The people" as Karen would say. I didn't. I didn't, of course, blow up any federal buildings. But I did take part in the human chain around the Pentagon, which disrupted the government and was at least technically illegal; others, but not I, engaged in acts of civil disobedience such as lying in front of troop trains and munitions trains; I did engage in a few illegal activities I won't get into here since I was subsequently pardoned by President Carter. But at the start, we were definitely a minority and not in line with the will of "the people." Eventually "the people" came around. But at first, it was lonely voices crying in the wilderness.

Sort of like I'm doing here and now. <g>
