I well remember the 1985 low :) Though I hadn't realized how quite straight downhill from $2.40 the pound had moved. I'd just moved back to Israel from Britain at the time. The Israeli hyperinflation has just been brought under control at this stage too, so there was a lot of monetary turbulence going on.
