TXN ( $ 34 )reiterates Q2 outlook negative 20% revs

NEW YORK, June 13 (Reuters) - The chief operating officer of semiconductor maker Texas Instruments Inc. (NYSE:TXN - news) on Wednesday reiterated the company's financial outlook for the second quarter, saying revenues would fall 20 percent from the first quarter amid industry weakness.

``Things have not improved during the quarter,'' Rich Templeton, the Dallas, Texas-based company's executive vice president and chief operating officer, said at a Bear Stearns technology conference in New York.

Templeton also said the company expects operating margins at break-even in the second quarter, and that research and development spending will likely be about flat in 2001 compared to last year.

The reiteration comes a day after telecommunication equipment maker Nokia (NYSE:NOK - news) shocked investors by slashing its profit and sales outlook for the second quarter
