Yep we agree on everything right down the line. It always amazes me that I end up clarifying my feelings for the dam-man every time I post on this issue. I try to simply it because it is way more complicated than I have presented it. I am focused on one single issue in all of this. The targeting of the innocents. Note: In reality I figure the Kurd, Shiite, and Village populations would be every bit as much of a threat as Saddam and maybe more if they had the resources. However, the fact is they are innocent by standers of the evil perpetrated by Saddam and our reactions to it.

I have close friends who are Quaities. One of the truths there, is that they sort of sold out the Arab brotherhood to get our support and tap into the western economy. They were actually cheating Saddam by angle drilling into his territory to tap his oil reservoirs. That precipitated his attack on them. Saddam gave all kinds of signals to the US representatives before he attacked Quait and did not get any warnings back from us. He probably thought we were going to stay out of it. Clearly we should stick with our alliance to Quait but its not like they were innocent and Saddam just had a bad day so he attacked them. When you put all the other Arab countries into the mix it gets way complicated. They were once so divided that we could easily form an alliance in the middle East. They are now pretty much universally condeming the continuation of the sanctions as are the other civilized nations of the world. We know that the real political issue is "OIL" not fear of what Saddam might do. Our great grand kids might be appologizing for this as we do slavery and Indian wars. No one really deals with the death of the innocents issue because, like you, most people can only see dam-man when the issue pops up.
