Here's an easy way to look at the Star Wars issue. If you could rewrite history with a clean slate and decide on two paths for worldwide safety and security, which of the following would you choose?

1. Nuclear missiles which travel thousands upon thousands of miles aimed at eachother. (MADD)

2. A space based shield capable of detecting and shooting down any missile fired. (STAR WARS)

We have no idea how far we've come in building such a system, and we have no idea how far we will eventually go. But we do know MADD is not a sane path to be on, and it's rapidly becoming a relic of an old way of thinking which has passed.

Further, we recognize, the world isn't some utopian playground where evil despotes no longer exist, and because of this reality, we shouldn't disarm completely and pretend it is.
