Yep, there goes the dividend. And before I took a small position in this stock, I posted a few times on Yahoo asking opinions on how secure the dividend was; never got much response. Buying for a solid dividend in non-utility stocks has not worked for me. The only other time I did, it was Chiquita (CQB) some 12 years or so ago, and that was a mistake too. Eliminated the dividend within a year. At least I got out soon after that.

I'll hold onto SLI for now. Who knows, maybe they will finally get it together.

SLI scraps quarterly dividend payouts to curb debt

CANTON, Mass., June 14 (Reuters) - SLI, Inc. (NYSE:SLI - news), a lighting systems
makers, said Thursday it would scrap quarterly dividend payments as part of efforts to cut
corporate debt.

The Canton Massachusetts-based company said the scraping of the dividend would free up about $7 million a year. It said it
would pay five cents as its last quarterly dividend payout to shareholders of record on July 9.
