McVeigh's crime was committed during the height of the militia frenzy with popular right-wing pundits like Rush Limbaugh giving almost tacit support to their activities. Don't deny it anyone because I was listening to Rush in those days and remember well. It should be no surprise a few nut cases went way too far. Just as Manson did in the 60's after taking too much LSD. I still don't know what Manson's point was but McVeigh was pure anti-government at a time when the right-wing were trying to turn voters against any and all government programs and authority. Even some on this board agree the government ought to be torn down which makes you the shadows of the extreme left-wing radicals of the 60's. So don't distance yourselves too much from McVeigh right-wingers. I know and admit as an environmentalist I share some sympathy (though I don't condone the acts) of those burning down houses on the edge of wilderness areas. Same kind of thing. NRA bumper-stickers attacking the government promote the McVeighs of the world and make them think it's okay to get extreme. McVeigh is just a wimp who wanted to achieve some sick kind of greatness with his peers though he pretty much ruined his own cause, as the abortion center murderers did with the so-called "Right To Life" movement.

Lesson being, try and have a balanced, humane and more compassionate view of all sides because every right-winger who ever cheered the nuts at Waco or Ruby Ridge deserves a little blame for the Oklahoma tragedy. As does Rush Limbaugh when he was spouting hatred in those days. I haven't listened to him since he disgusted me so much. He's a closet racist, sexist and fascist himself though he couches himself as a "normal American". The man has a lot of hatred in him and his type just sows the seeds of extremism in delusional minds. Our government is important and must be strong and healthy. Our taxes must be paid and our poor must be helped. Giving money back to the richest Americans doesn't make sense because they alone can afford to help out with the gravest or problems. And without safety nets, the streets will explode with violence and unrest as they did during Bush Sr's term with the LA riots.
Food for thought as McVeigh is executed and right-wingers try to deny any responsibility. Moderate your own minds and find balanced compassion within. To Bush it's just a pose and a slogan to try and trick people into voting for him, for Cheney and Limbaugh it's a joke but to every one of us it ought to mean a whole lot more.
