There is no denying that the Shrub has managed to alienate the Europeans. Much of this was probably an intentional policy shift, but it was still poorly handled. However, you are right, it is unfair to accuse him of sinking the GE-

Everyone thought the Three Stooges were funny too until people started emulating them, and found out that getting hit over the head with a shovel hurt.

Interesting theory about Jack Welch and the merger, one that I've never heard advanced. What faults do you think he might have seen in HON that weren't visible on the surface?
