The power to issue money is in the hands of the private banks. Although they are regulated by us, they are owned privately. I think if a Congress tried to change this, it could have severe implications on the world economy, and I am not referring to conspiratorial ones. But I think the power to issue money belongs to us.

I think the best way to judge the intentions of the federal reserve bank owners is by analyzing what they are saying they are going to do with the surplus. Gramlich said the other day that while there is no evidence, he thinks buying foreign assets is the best way to invest in America's future, and it will not weaken the dollar. I will post the article and further research after lunch. But if this is a policy that is harmful to America, then I really begin to wonder who is behind this brilliant move?
