David,

What I mean by the statement that most of the technical indicators out there fail when a stock starts trending is simply that it becomes increasingly difficult to identify when the trend is actually ending without getting faked out. Its fine to ride the trend, but what about when it ends? Now I know you can use ADX and ADXR to get an idea. And trendlines on RSI work pretty well--but its not as definitive as overbought/oversold as indicated by a large number of indicators like stochastics, RSI and bollinger bands. Moving average crossovers work well too and some other indicator crossover systems.

Riding a trend for 3 months or longer does not match my trading style. I'm really only interested in the very short term trend, because I want to get in and get out with a small profit in a very short period of time. I want to trade the trend is what I'm saying. I prefer that the short term trend be in gear with the intermediate or long term trend.
