I had to read this a few times before I was certain I understood the meaning of this sentence:

"Yes, Windows XP will make it worse. But as Gibson points out, it's amazingly bad right now."

So if you are terminally-ill and you catch the flu, what's the difference right?

Then I thought - if you've caught the flu and then become terminally-ill, that's a big deal! I suppose its up to us to decide which it is......I only hope people don't buy the "company line" on this one.

This entire discussion proves that computers and the internet are NOT like telephones and the phone network nor will they contribute to any "shift" in power/capabilities etc. The cyber world is much different than we've been led to believe and even as I consider myself technically savvy, I can no better predict where this cyberworld will lead us beyond the near future. I'd like to think it will lead us into a "better" world but there's no guarantee that it will be better - one thing for sure, it will be different than the Internet we know today.
