Well I agree that gold has not done well over the last 20 years and tech has. Do you think gold will never perform well again? Do you find it impossible to imagine that gold might outperform tech for a period of time? Are you sure you are not letting the experience of the last 20 years dictate to you how you expect the future to be?

The market as a whole has outperformed gold over 100 years, but of course most companies do not succeed in the long run. Picking the right stocks becomes paramount, which seems just as hard as trying to predict secular market changes. You don't think gold could outperform tech stocks under certain market conditions, at least for a period of time (5, 10 years)? You don't see anything unusual about the last few years as far as speculation, valuations, and money printing? Or you don't think that it matters? Or you just don't see tech underperforming for a very long period of time? Or perhaps you just don't think gold is the answer to possible economic instability?
