GE says 2001 profit to rise in solid double digits

LE BOURGET, France, June 16 (Reuters) - General Electric
<GE.N> Chairman-designate and President Jeffrey Immmelt said on
Saturday that the company expected earnings to increase in the
"solid double digits" this year.
Speaking at the biannual air show here, Immelt said GE fully
expected to meet its 2001 "financial commitments." He said he
expected economic weakness to continue in the second half of the
year.
