hi ben

i am successfully running norton systemworks 2000 (which is also called v3.0) on win95A. the nav component within nsw is 6.0. that is the most current version that you can count on working on win95A.

the problem, however, is that norton has passed that version and now has nsw2001 and nav2001(7.0) on the shelves. you should be able to locate what you need, but it won't be all that easy.

i did peruse the symantec site and found only current stuff. a quick call to the symantec store customer service yielded a recording telling me that they are not open on weekends. a quick search of buy.com's software offerings again yielded only the latest and the greatest norton version.

if i were you i would

1) try symantec customer service on monday to check on availability of nav6.0 or nsw2000

2) try an auction site like ebay where they always seem to be selling older versions and pretending they are the new ones <g3>

3) forget about norton and investigate other vendor's virus removal tools or programs that will work with win95A

btw, on closer inspection of the nsw2001 carton, i see that on the front it lists compatible operating systems as WINDOWS 2000/NT/Me/98/95. (quite misleading, no?) but in fine print on the carton top it does say Windows 95 B.

good luck and let us know if you need more help.

ps- thanks for the kind words

:)
