What you leftists fail to see (other than the fact that everyone recognizes you as leftists no matter how many times you try to deny it) it that Bush got exactly what he needed from this trip:

Kyoto has never been more dead. The Europeans will have to accept real science now, and that means the end of the fraud that humans-particularly Americans-are somehow responsible for "raping the earth".

Strategic missile defense is the new reality. The Europeans now know that they are either part pf the solution or part of the problem. They will line up and go along-that's a guarantee.

The US needs Europe like it needs a new environmental law. The Europeans realize, once again, that we could walk away from them and few Americans would even notice, much less care. It drives them crazy, but they will tow the line.

The benefit for us here is that it gets the US left all riled up, and perhaps delays them in their next attempt to damage America internally. But the European leaders, after they are through posturing to their own left, will once again be more comfortable facing the stark reality about America that they have faced for more than a century.

Bush's next visit, as a result, is liable to be far more cordial. And there may be a few new faces replacing the ones who couldn't adapt to the new reality.
