len; the ecomomy only works if a certain number of people are unemployed. If too little unemployment occurrs then you have companies competing for labor, salaries rise and inflation sets in. Thus, helping one group usually hurts another. Thus, we strive for the best qualified worker getting the job. Affirmative action thus has helped one group and hurt another group. However, it wasn't the group everyone thought it would be. Women allied themselves with minorities and have made themselves an aggrieved group and have made great gains. Now I ask you then who does that hurt?
