S100: What actually does GPRS do?

There is zero gain in voice capacity.

There is close to zero gain in data speed.

Why would anyone in his/her right mind pay for what is either zero gain, or not much above zero?

Mindboggling, no?

What is "always on" worth actually?

Particularly if you have to buy a new phone for whatever advantage that might be - and what advantage is it?

Note: Nokia seems to be churning out phones without GPRS. Why?
