The main line? The primary one? It's been relegated to a non-status entity, because someone invariably has it tied up on AOL or Compuserve.

Yes, one of the annoying side effects of having a cable modem is that my primary phone which used to be tied up when I was online now rings while I'm busy at my computer. I've rediscovered call screening with the answering machine. The good side effect is that if I'm discussing something with someone on the phone that requires me to look up something (like where is that movie playing we want to go see) on the Internet I can now do both at once.

My primary line serves the same function as my old AOL account used to serve.....SPAM depository. I use it for that and checking my voicemail messages on the PCS service without using up wireless minutes.
