Yes, Eddy, it is annoying. A good example of this are the recent rumors about MSFT possibly having to warn. They were supposedly started by "speculative traders", no doubt in an effort to hurt the stock and help their short positions. There was no basis (specific to the company) for the rumors, they were simply the tool of the traders. Your point about the index weighting is a good one. If you can hurt MSFT you can take down the indexes. The Nasdaq, Dow and QQQ all follow MSFT to a certain extent. Damage MSFT and you drag the Nasdaq down, break the uptrend and send it spiraling lower.

Nice game they're playing. Profitable for some, deadly for others.
