I think you hit the nail on the head. This is a big reason why it is futile(IMO) to project IC or FO sales 3 to 5 years down the road.

That is part of the reason my investment strategy has been a simple one: Buy great companies at attractive prices and close your eyes. Trying to guess what is just over the horizon has proven a losing game for many.
