JakeStraw , why do EMC shareholders talk about how EMC has

9 of the top 10 financial institutions
5 of the top 5 Telco's
8 of the top 10 manufacturers
4 of the top 5 Insurance companies

Does the fact that 5 of the top 5 telco's use EMC mean NTAP is doomed? Maybe..

Then again, the whole world relied on IBM for computers a few decades ago and today Microsoft & Intel rule. I'm still not sure NAS has to kill SAN for NetApp to win. I think they could be co-exist.

What i find interesting is that all these great corporations use EMC. I'm sure you could easily name 10 blue chip companies that use EMC. If 9 of the top 10 financial institutions use EMC and 5 of the top 5 Telco's use EMC (ect..), then why do they only have 30% share? It seems pretty obvious EMC is only talking about the wins they've made.

Don't laugh until you read the CFO magazine article, then laugh all the way to the bank. NTAP will capture more and more earnings with the GROWTH of marketshare and GROWTH of the storage marketspace.

Really? Care to give 1 reason? JakeStraw already said he felt that increased competition will put pressure on NetApp (then again i could easily say EMC will also face increased pressure from Dell and other asian companies). Being a current shareholder of NTAP, i'd say that NTAP's software and WALF technology gives them an advantage. How big of an advantage? I'm not sure...how hard is it to reproduce what NetApp has done? I know WALF is patented, but how crucial is this technology. Is it similar to QCOM's patents?

According to a study, price was one of the lowest requirements, which is good for NetApp (and polly EMC) in case there is a price war.
