Maybe I have lost your point. I have nothing against farmers, per se, although I don't think they are more sacred than small businessmen, and therefore I am complacent about the growth of agribusiness. I am just doubtful that, outside of local pockets, one has an agrarian society, or, to put it another way, the agrarian life is not culturally dominant in the United States or, for that matter, an developed country......

Any decent corporation diversifies its product line and brings new products to market on a regular basis. But that is not really the point, either: whatever the fate of an individual business, the economy and associated lifestyles are more determined by the corporate sector than by the farm sector......
