Well, certainly the operators of the other sites are more organized, since they started off in the commercial mode.

I think the real reason why for pay sites exist is because after people did away with their full service brokers, they realized that their own trading performance was not satisfactory, and looked around for "help".

There's obviously demand for opinions and information. If you think about it, even SI is a for pay site, but with a twist. It houses free information. The fact is that the majority of people need affirmation from others, and/or they cannot formulate their own opinion independently. And where there are followers, any number of people will try to become their leaders. It's just the way it is.
