The framers of the Constitution (which was the antecedent of the original Articles of Confederation), based their precepts upon a philosophy that is immutable. That philosophy does not change no matter what societal whims may occur over time. The basic rights outlined in the document speak to the same human basics today as they did in the 1700s. Indeed, that same philosophy will be valid 100 years from now and even when we are driving outwards to seed the planets of other stars.

The perception that the Constitution is a "changing" document is wrong, foolish and dangerous. It is the blatant misadventures of an irresponsible Congress, press and federal judges at whose collective feet this once great society has gone mad. They have created a schizoid society akin to that envisioned in the political horror novel 1984.

With a lack of firm philosophical understanding, with the belief that "A is not A but can be anything you want it to be" and with nonobjective, unequal justice doled out under a myriad of pointless, discriminatory, right-trashing "laws" -- well, is it any wonder we have things like Columbine?

And the government and media wring their hands and ask WHY? Hell... they helped create it!
