It probably wasn't the company. More than likely, someone there from a brokerage firm made an off-the-cuff statement, based on his/her opinion, about the quarter and it found its way on briefing.com. I think all companies, including VRSN, are quite familiar with Reg. FD guidelines by now.

BTW, VRSN's Q2 Earnings Release is on Thursday, July 26th.
