Talk of missile attacks is pure fiction. The only terrorist attacks we've had have been McVeigh's and similar attacks in Lebanon and in Africa. As for "rogue states" NAME ONE. Saddam couldn't hit Israel. Libya, China and extremely dependent upon western commerce. Afganistan is Road Warrior time. Cuba and North korean can't even feed their people. Which imaginary foe is this all about? I would say we need a deterrant against China (1,000,000-1 chance they'd ever attack us) and we need the tightest possible management of the aging old Soviet missile arsenal. The Russians want to kiss W's ass a little because they know they can make a lot of desperately needed money selling their old junk-pile of arms to us to be destroyed. In case you hadn't noticed the Russian military is rusted, no spare parts and no basically money. And if they did attack for some reason it wouldn't be a target halfway around the world, it would be a breakaway republic they're trying to punish. All said, this whole issue is a huge boondoggle. Not even credible fiction.
