Tim, here's a classic on Federal regulation. There are calls for it in the case of amusement parks but nowhere in the article do I find an explanation for why Federal oversight would be an improvement.

There is some discussion that current regulations are not uniform but we're not told what's inherently wrong with that. There's also a slight hint that national regulation would require more thorough reporting.

Although the headline is about regulation, it's not at all clear why Federal regulation would improve safety. Looks like a classic case study to me. A call for Federal regulation. Why?

I looked up the proposed legislation and it doesn't offer a reason.
