NHC And Sunrise Telecom Join Forces To Provide Complete End-To-End Copper Provisioning and Testing Solution
For Local Exchange Carriers

Two companies successfully complete interoperability testing

MONTREAL, June 18 /CNW/ - NHC Communications Inc. (TSE: NHC) and Sunrise
Telecom Incorporated (NASDAQ: SRTI) announce that they have successfully
completed interoperability testing between NHC's ControlPoint(TM) and Sunrise
Telecom's Oculist(TM) Broadband Verification System.
Successful interoperability testing confirms the seamless integration of
ControlPoint(TM)'s non-blocking, large-scale automated cross-connect switch
with Oculist(TM). The compatibility of the two systems will provide Local
Exchange Carriers (LECs) with a complete end-to-end solution for performing
remote testing, provisioning, fallback switching and service migration. LECs
will also be able to test, qualify, deploy and redirect Digital Subscriber
Line (DSL) unbundled loops at carrierscale.
"Demand for high-speed Internet access continues to escalate and as a
result, LECs must perform an increasing number of tasks to keep pace with
requests for DSL services," said Sylvain Abitbol, NHC's President and CEO.
"The combination of ControlPoint(TM) and Oculist(TM) enables LECs to automate
many of the tasks, including line testing, that are currently addressed
through truck rolls and on-site visits."
Ray Chong, Sunrise Telecom's Vice-President, System Products and
Oculist(TM)'s inventor, agreed, "The interoperability of the two technologies
offers service providers a worry-free solution for testing copper lines, while
minimizing costs and maximizing efficiencies. It speeds up the process of
Copper Loop pre-qualification, enhances the capabilities maintenance tests,
and simplifies locating and diagnosing faults by sectionalizing and emulating
equipment in the path between ISP, CO, and CPE sites."
