If this were anyone else starting this thread,
I'd probably say... hmmm..

a dead cat

or

garbage

or

something like that...

but, I'm gonna guess that it is

some garlic bulbs that you were going to plant,
but somehow they got pushed to the back of somewhere
and went...uhm... ROTTEN..

How do I know this kinda thing happens?

Well, it happened to ME a couple of years back.

Yep, had a bumper crop of garlic from the garden
and decided to save a bunch to break up and use for
the next year's crop in late fall...
Only part of the batch got pushed aside in the garage
and went through winter
and then through spring...
UNTIL
the weather started to warm up...

then one fine day, I rolled the big barn door to one side and
within seconds, was hollering:

WHAT IN HELL IS THAT SMELL!!!!!

Well, it turned out to be the rotting garlic bulbs.

Ahhhh... nothing quite LIKE that odor...
nope.
NOTHING
