<It sort of gives a new complexity to the debate about global warming if it's being caused by indigenous peoples, peasants, farmers, and forest fires, doesn't it? The billion people in India and the billion people in China cooking their daily meal and warming their tiny hovels?>

Not at all, this is nothing new... also everyone knows that these areas have "value" far beyond the "economic value" awarded the price of their wood or food extracted no? For some reason our government isn't willing to pay these regions not to destroy them... strange, but who want's to pay extra taxes for air when you can buy an SUV instead! Could that when we really need to run up some deficites for important issues, that defeat of communism may prove expensive after all?
