I don't know much about JDSU and the optical equip industry, and was hoping to tap some of the expertise here. I would like to establish a position in this sector during this panic selling. It is common knowledge that JDSU is a gorilla in this space. However, when I look at the financials I see the dreaded AMZN pattern--ever higher losses on higher sales. I understand these losses stem from writedowns related to aquisitions, and are not true operating losses.

However, as owners of JDSU equity can we afford to ignore these numbers? It seems to me that this might impact shareholder's equity negatively--especially in a declining market.

I would like to own this company. I would appreciate if someone would explain: (1) Why JDSU is dominant in this industry, and (2) why we can ignore the poor bottom line figures.

Thanks, Keith
