I don't know why. I only know that not having the grades for a highly competitive law school does not equate to being dumb.

I think as a culture what we call 'Intellegence' is made up of a whole bunch of different parts. We even hold different standards. Not all of them are right.

The stereotype that a person with a southern accent as a simpleton for example... Although this will be true some of the time as a matter of statistic, it is an error to assume that it is always true, or most often true.

When we say a person looks smart... this can be a judgement of their style and demeanor as much as it is their ability to reason.

Then there are the relatives and sub elements of intelligence: articulation, wisdom, depth, reason, wit, quickness, accomplishment and so on.

To say that a person is or isn't smart based on a limited view is... well... stupid.

I was tied with one other student in my high school class for having the highest IQ. I graduated in the bottom half of my class. Does that make me stupid? Did that make me stupid. I do realize that the very question will test the intellectual limits of the thread not to pick up a dropped dagger. ;)

Anyway... the common left opinion of GWB is that he is dumb. And of course the comedians and pop culture have latched onto it and will likely not let go. To me this is the same sort of thing as the person who makes fun of the guy with the southern accent... shallow and maybe desperate.

If GWB is anything like I think he is he will be able (and has been) to use this perception to his advantage.

I am proud to admit that this is the first president who reminds me of myself.
