Hi Kerry, I think this is good news for everyone. No need to have harassment suits going on over opinion.

I still use Value Line and have for probably 20 years as the base reference point of most of my investing. The "Expanded" edition is now at my library and although not quite as complete, it still offers lots of good info on rather obscure and tiny companies. I don't know where else one could find info on companies with sales of $25MM and thinly traded issues. It's a great service.

I think it's just a problem of interpretation after that. Think how many people come to SI, read about a stock and invest based upon what has been presented here as opinion! If they then bellyache about the results, they have only themselves to blame. I think it's about the same with Value Line. It's one source of opinion. If people just take their opinion blindly they may end up with poor results and blame V/L for it.

When I gave a talk recently at a new investment club meeting, I asked the members to note after the talk what I DIDN'T discuss from the page. Essentially I left out the entire text section! There were other things I didn't discuss as well. I directed people to go read the intro section of each industrial subsector that V/L reviews before reading any company specific info. Generally I've found V/L's sector comments better than their company specific ones.

Anyway, with the "Litigation Era" looking like it's behind us, maybe we will see some more posting here!

Best regards, Tom
