I have never been a cheerleader of AMAT or any other stock. I seldom post and when I do, I typically post news items pertaining to the industry or analyst comments, both pro and con. Cary has been criticizing this stock (and others in the industry) at every turn. Everyone who reads these boards knows full well that Cary thinks these stocks are overvalued and that in his opinion they should come down to historical (1998) lows....We heard it. Many times. His opinion has been duly noted. What benefit is it to keep repeating it every damn day? Unless Cary thinks that by repeating it often enough the price action will trend in a manner in which he wishes. The street is obviously saying that (as of the recent past) the situation is not being perceived as bad as the 1998 situation. If he feels that strongly about it (and the direction of the market) he should short the stock. The fact that he doesn't suggests to me that in the final analysis he doesn't have much conviction in what he says. He repeats himself because he's mad that the street is not (presently) presenting him with his "buy" points on these stocks. I'm long but you don't see me complaining that AMAT (and others) are not appreciating as fast as I may like. (as a matter of fact I am more than happy with the pace of appreciation and have all the patience in the world). Enough said.
