One CIBC presentation I missed before was Optical Solutions. It is "Audio Only". I am listening to it now. The topic is FTTH - fiber direct to the home. They are a new LMNE customer. They have 5,000 homes wired. Very interesting presentation. I recommend it to those who missed it. "If it can't handle video, it isn't broadband." "DSL and Cable are not broadband". Project $11.5 million in revs this year and $40 million next year. Each fiber is split 32 ways to cover 32 different buildings. "If the depth of this room represents the bandwidth of fiber, the bandwidth of twisted pair phone lines would be less than the thickness of this business card." "You can go in and put in an FTTH system for LESS than Coax." 100-Base-T to the home! That's 100 Mbps! One of their products. "2 phone lines, 100-Base-T, plus optional video." "40Mbps sustained, and bursts up to 100Mbps."! dynamic bandwidth, allocate bandwidth, QoS Consumer apps are emerging that will require that amount of bandwidth. (video on demand, video conferencing, etc) $100 per month per box (I think that's their high end box). People are willing to pay. Installation costs are going way down.
