Couldn't agree with you more, singajane. Fiber is the future and the last mile is still the bottleneck. The ILECs monopoly suffocates the competition and delayed broadband availability to the public. The inefficient and incapable cable companies have held people waiting forever. Even in the Silicon Valley, probably less than 20% of residents have the access to broadband. What a joke! Is it the time for the government to sponsor a nationwide fiber network system like it did for the nationwide interstate highway system in the 30’s?
