"The simple truth of the matter is that in Roman Catholic Latin America, abortion is illegal, but is being performed at one of the highest levels in the world."

No its not the simple truth. Communist and former communist countries have higher rates.

Columbia, Brazil, Chile, and Peru are all in the top ten, Tim. So why are you quibbling that abortion being performed at "one of the highest levels in the world" is not true? Are you just trying to be quarrelsome?

It doesn't have to justify the deaths, it did not cause them. The death is caused by the abortion

The point I was trying to get across, Tim, is that religious opposition is a major factor in the fact that women in many countries are unable to obtain legal abortions. And the statistics show very clearly that illegal abortions greatly increase the risk that the woman will die or be permanently damaged by the procedure. Also, that the religious opposition was not reducing abortions, but only endangering mothers--so it is natural to wonder how the deaths of women could possibly benefit their cause?? Am I the only person that wonders about that? I just don't see how they justify it in their minds.

the person or organization forcing the woman to have an abortion is responsible for it instead of the woman

I find it extremely disturbing that women are being forced to have abortions. It is reprehensible.
