Ray, I'm afraid you give me too much credit. My position on the question of BBFW is by no means as certain as yours. Notwithstanding my doubts, you have to ask yourself: "What is impelling the Intersils, the Motorolas, the Ciscos, the TIs, and on, and on... to invest considerable money, effort and time in this sector?"
I have questions, where there seems to be no doubt in your mind. The questions, the doubt have been sufficient to take me out of the wireless sector entirely, at a small loss.
I would like to suggest that we watch an interesting demonstrator that is happening, as we correspond.
You are probably aware that the UK has had a miserable broadband experience: the usual problems. Stalling by the incumbent on DSL, high access costs, etc.
I note from your recent dialogue with Crossy the importance of government in assuring the success of any given initiative.
In the UK, all the conditions are favourable for BBFW. In addition, Tele2 UK has been given a mandate by the government to expand MMDS services to 60% of the country.
If it can't succeed there, what are the chances it will succeed elsewhere?
Wi-LAN will equip Tele2 UK with a W-OFDM MMDS solution. I suggest that this venture will test many of the arguments advanced on this thread, including mine.
