As you may or may not know, the government of Canada is a five-year dictatorship.

It's a viewpoint I often hear, especially if you do your listening from the west/west coast. Policy decisions come from the Prime Minister's office and a few selected cabinet ministers. Regular Joe MPs have no power at all. On most issues they vote how they're told to vote. There are no checks and balances as there are in the US political system. IMHO her statement is more true than not.
