Supe, I don't know the answer to your question about the number or percent of class action lawsuits that result in monetary awards, but I suspect some organization compiles those statistics. This much I believe to be true. The costs of this type of litigation are enormous for both sides. I've been on the receiving end of some successful cases (whether by settlement or by judgment I do not know). However, the amount received rarely, if ever, exceeded double digits. On the other hand, legal fees for counselors representing plaintiffs usually exceed 7 digits. It seems, too, that one class action frequently begets others, each brought by a separate law firm specializing in these kinds of proceedings. I presume most of the separate class actions result in consolidation, but I am not certain what conditions must be present for consolidation to occur. Not a happy prospect for INSP or its shareholders, unless it all comes out of The AA's pocket. But don't hold your breath for that to happen.
