Now wait a second, that wasn't the point I was trying to make. It is my belief that there is a part of the internet culture that wants stuff for free, but if you took the stuff away from those people, they would be the first ones to pony up some simolians. I think that a lot of the service/content providers provided stuff for free or at a loss so that they could win the land grab (market share). I absolutely believe that there is a market for broadband access and the services that it can provide. And it is because of this belief that I believe that we don't need government intervention to bring it about. In fact, I believe that it is the government intervention that has stiffled the deployment (through disincentives).

I have been putting out regular McKie Manifestos on my bullish views toward broadband access for a while. I think we agree on the endgame, just not how we get there.
