Let's put a face on Down's syndrome for a minute... nads.org it is a very hard thing to cope with , the strain & fears doubts and pain on the parents is huge ... confronting so many of broken dreams and hopes from the start, and before . ....there are high-functioning DS children and low .... Stories of those that make the adjustment and successfully cope are some of the most extremely inspiring . All the pain and hurt these people must first go thru ... much of which never goes away. Not too hard to find a great deal of what the meaning of love is in these many stories...but not all can cope , though. In a way , what is not so perfect a world , seems it can be made closer to perfect thru this kind of Love , and caring doesn't it ? for those many would consider unwanted ...but that has changed far far more for the better in recent years, so incredibly more so than before . What these people must go thru at first ...pretty unbelievable really . The Special Olympics , started by Eunice Shriver in the 1960's was a great thing , really . A good Catholic using a great Pagan Celebration/Game for the doing real good works . Love & Compassion are old & ancient concepts , greg . Older than your Adam and Eve.... It amazes me how some think it is unique only to their own theology & philosophy...and scriptures & idea of the Diety. regards ;-) mars
