Seriously, now. You can go with cellular, but you said you didn't like your carrier. Is there another carrier available: Sprint, Cingular, At&T, Cellular One, others????

If that's not a good option, then I would reccomend a Base with one or more cordless units. You won't have to string any more wires and then do it again when you want to redecorate again. There are digital phones with scramblers/descramblers so nearby strangers or neighbors can't accidently or deliberately listen in on your calls. Some of the newer systems can support 4 cordless handsets with speakerphone and walkie-talkie capability and multi-line answering machine so callers can leave separate messages for different people. New stuff is coming out every day. Try to get to a phone store or Circuit City type stores or even use the internet to search for "Cordless Phones". You can see the latest equipment from all the major mfgrs with prices and where they are available from. I'm sure you can probably buy direct from at least some. Another possibility is like my son has. A telephony program for his computer that records all the stats, caller id, lg of call etc etc. And he uses the cordless handset to talk or his computer program acts as a speakerphone too. If you give it some extra effort or get a friend or relative to help select a solution for you, then you can eliminate the phone as a limiting factor in your decorating or remodeling schemes.

Good Luck and have fun
