LOL. Pure genius, Lerner & Loewe. They should have received a Nobel Prize for that song.

Reminded me of a little ditty that we used to sing in 2nd & 3rd grade community singing once a week. I don't remember the title or any verses but the chorus alternates between male & female:

Rachel sings verse & then a chorus: Reuben, Reuben, I've been thinking what a fine world this would be, if the men were all transported far beyond the Northern Sea."

Then Reuben sings a verse and & then a chorus: Rachel, Rachel, I've been thinking what a fine world this would be, if the women were all transported far beyond the Northern Sea".

As I remember, there were lots of verses alternating between Reuben and Rachel. All the boys sang the Reuben parts and the girls, the Rachel parts. Geez, that opened a memory window for me. There were a lot of then current pop tunes; Hernando's Hideaway, Manana'. And an every session starter and ender: The Battle Hymn of The Republic (all four verses). Also Civil War song "When Johnny Comes Marching Home".

I can't believe I remember from 2nd grade 52 years ago! I take a shopping list to the store with me so I don't forget anything and then I forget I have a list and wander up and down aisles; that looks good, I bet I need that, oh, and at least three of those, I wonder if they have...

Improverbâ„¢ 6.20: Memory and youth are wasted on children.

Improverbâ„¢ 6.21: Memory is the second thing to go and then you can't remember what was the first thing to go.
