even if Sagawa is correct as to spending levels, it's not merely a matter of how much is being spent but ON WHAT is being bought...FTTx, the Metro space, all that is required to bring the benefits of true broadband to the end user where demand is still very high, that's not going to subside, IMHO. What's Noam et al to do in the face of a tsunami? Expect it to split and go around any PR MRV might broadcast so that it has a clear path to The Promised Land? It has been a few thousand years since that trick was last done... no, wait until the waves of negativity have subsided and then push like crazy to a more receptive audience; then and only then will the PR bucks be most wisely spent, when people are beginning to feel better about visibility.
