SK, NTT DoCoMo in Final Negotiations

SK Telecom is believed to be in the final stages of negotiations with NTT DoCoMo
for the sale of 14.5 percent of its shares as part of a large-scale strategic alliance.

According to SK officials, the two companies have closed in on the price of shares at
which the transfer could take place and NTT DoCoMo could put the proposal to a
vote at a meeting of its board of directors at the end of this month.

``Should this happen, a final contract could be signed by early next month, concluding
prolonged negotiations for the important strategic alliance,'' one SK official said.

The deal involves the transfer of 12 million shares in the mobile communications giant
and it could fetch anywhere between 3 to 4 trillion won, he explained.

Negotiations with NTT DoCoMo have been going on and off for over a year and a
half. SK Corporation and SK Global were forced to initially transfer their shares
earmarked for NTT to Signum IX, an Singaporean investment broker which will
mediate the talks.

Along the way, SK Telecom has negotiated with other potential investors but the
most recent negotiations resumed only in January.
