I had just participated in a somewhat lengthy discussion of states' rights vs. slavery, and you and I were in agreement in this matter, and had even exchanged a couple of courteous messages. I had no score to settle with you whatsoever. That's why I was so stunned by this scurrilous attack. Prognostications are a regular feature of this board, and I have long maintained that many posters on SI do not practice what they preach in terms of the work ethic. In fact, I think the opposite is true: You and Sandintoes wanted to "get me on something," and you seized what you considered to be an outrageous post as the basis for your attack.
